One of the most important tenants of Freemasonry is service to one's community.  At Orient Lodge we have a variety of opportunities for both independently led charity work, lodge & member donations, Lodge sponsored community service events, and collective opportunities in and around the 6th Masonic District.

Ten Outstanding Norwood Youth (T.O.N.Y.) Awards:
-The T.O.N.Y. Awards were started over 40 years ago in Norwood, and has been managed by Orient Lodge during the past 16 years.  The awards program aims to recognize the young people in Norwood for their contributions to both community and/or faith related activities.

 Teacher of the Year Awards:
-The Teacher of the Year Awards is something that was started as a way to recognize the educational professionals in the Norwood School system for all of their hard work and dedication to the enrichment of our children.  Teachers are nominated by their peers and/or parents of their students.  The awards banquet is held each spring in honor of the nominees and teacher who wins the award.
 Norwood Angel Fund:
-The Angel fund is a service that Orient Lodge participates in with the schools in town.  When the school learns of a need that one of their students is unable to satisfy at home (ex: reading glasses, dental care, etc.), a request is submitted to Oriend Lodge for financial assistance.  The name of the child is never provided to the lodge in order to maintain the privacy of the child and family.  After reviewing the request, the lodge will send a check for the requested amount to the school where it will then be administered to the student in a discreet fashion.

 Blood Drives:
-Orient Lodge organizes several holiday blood drives throughout the year.  These are scheduled around Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, and the 4th of July holiday weekends.  The blood drives are always held on a Saturday and run between 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Red Cross Center on Ruscraft Road in Dedham.  Lodge members help to organize/run the event as well as cook a pancake breakfast for all donors to enjoy - free of charge.  Orient Lodge has sponsored these events annually for the last 16 years and has helped the Red Cross to receive over 4,000 pints of donated blood in that time.
